Books....

Currently reading The Briar King by Greg Keyes, first in a series (I assume it will be a trilogy. It is a fantasy novel, people. They always come in threes. Kind of like blind mice...). Anyway, it's v. good so far. Dark, with good characters (multiple view points) and possible church corruption (a favorite of mine).

Just finished The Spirit Ring by Lois McMaster Bujold. Decent book, horrible cover. Truly awful. I think it must be the publishing house (Baen), as they also did Mercedes Lackey's Bardic books and they all had wretched covers. But, back to the book. It wasn't as complicated as I would have like-it read more like YA fiction instead of a complicated fantasy novel like I was expecting (the last book I read by this author was like that, v. good). Anyway, it was a nice, easy read while I wait for no book buying season to end (then, oh yes, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norell will be mine! Yes mine.)

Anyway, anyone else reading anything good or have anything fun to recommend?

"Illusions" by Richard Bach

Buy it used for cheap at Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0440204887/qid=1100833073/sr=8-1/ref=pd_csp_1/104-4706395-6085525?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

A seriously good story. Find something in yourself.

I've heard of him, but haven't read any of his books. What style of book are they?

Hard to describe. Short, easy read.

Kind of has elements of self-empowerment/spirituality, but not so much that it becomes cheesy or stupid.

It's quite unlike anything I've read before. It's a nice story. Possibly not quite as thrilling as fantasy novels, but like I said, it's short so you won't have wasted much time if you don't like it. The synopsis on Amazon is pretty good.
